Ovus Bench
The Ovus bench is a unique outdoor bench that will stand out in your garden. It is a design that values nature and sustainability, with the scallops shell and its expansion of form providing the guide for the main form.

The material was discovered within a stack of wood, destined to be consumed by flames (refer to Fig 1). This firewood originated from the roof struts of an barn, which was undergoing demolition. The precise coordinates of the barn's location and the site of the fire are as follows:

51°09'08.1"N 0°22'49.3"W

These coordinates hold significance as they mark the inception of the material's journey. What was once fated to become mere ash upon scorched grass found a new purpose as it transformed into a perch whomever might find it. The timber, having once supported the barn's structure, now found a renewed sense of significance, serving as a sustainable foundation for this very project.

The surface consists of two asymmetrical ovals, with one nestled inside the other. These ovals differ in depth, creating both a recessed and an elevated area (refer to Fig 2). The recessed portion is meticulously crafted to offer subtle support while seated, ensuring a comfortable experience. Meanwhile, the raised section offers a convenient spot to keep your belongings.
Drawing from the inspiration of my previous projects, which revolved around the concept of tree forms, I sought a new source of inspiration in the organic world. In this exploration, my focus turned to the intricate construction of a clam shell, where numerous components continuously expand and progress outward.

As the bench required a greater length, I adapted this concept's geometry by extending it along one dimension (refer to Fig 3). This transformation not only imbued the bench with functionality but also preserved its ability to mirror the inherent beauty of a clam shell's natural form.
